Light Aircraft Crashes In Elmina Shah Alam

The names in the planes passenger manifest have been confirmed as follows:
1. Dato’ Sri Johari Bin Harun (ADUN N36 Pelangai, Pahang)

2. Khairil Azwan Bin Jamaludin

3. Shaharul Amir Bin Omar

4. Mohamad Naim Fawwaz Bin Mohamed Muaidi

5. Mohammad Taufiq Bin Mohd Zaki

6. Idris Abdol Talib @ Ramali


The two victims on the ground were
1. Motorcyclist - Muhammad Hafiz Muhammad Salleh (32)

2. Car Driver- Sharipuddin Shaari (51)

SHAH ALAM: At least 10 people have died after a light aircraft crashed at the Elmina Township, here.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the incident occurred at around 2.40pm on Thursday (Aug 17).

"The aircraft which took off from Langkawi was cleared to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang when it lost communication with the control tower.

"The aircraft crashed into the road here and hit a car and motorcycle.

"Based on our checks at least two crew members and six passengers were on board the flight. They all died at the scene," he told reporters at the scene.

He said the driver of the car and the motorcyclist died on impact.

"We have yet to establish if there were more people inside the car.

KUANTAN: Pelangai assemblyman and Pahang exco member Datuk Seri Johari Harun was among those who perished in the plane crash near the Elmina Township in Selangor. He was 54.


Pahang state assembly speaker Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin confirmed this on Facebook on Thursday (Aug 17).


As a new face in the 15th general election, Johari was fielded as a Barisan Nasional candidate and won the Pelangai state seat in the Bentong parliamentary constituency.


Johari was subsequently appointed as the Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman in the Pahang unity government.





Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah visited the site where a light aircraft crashed at the Elmina Township here.

He arrived at around 5.30pm and was accompanied by Fire and Rescue Department director general Datuk Abdul Wahab Mat Yasin and Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

Comm Hussein gave a short briefing on the incident to the King during his visit.

He left the site at around 6pm.


UPDATE -6PM

At least 10 victims including an EXCO from Pahang were victims in the accident of a special charter plane that crashed at Lebuhraya Guthrie, near Elmina's residence here, this afternoon.

In the incident at around 2.40 this afternoon, the plane carrying six passengers along with two pilots and their assistants reportedly failed to be escorted before crashing into Elmina.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said the plane departing from Langkawi had been given permission by the Control Tower, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang to land at 2.40pm.

"However, the plane in question reportedly crashed two minutes before it was scheduled to land.

"When it crashed, the plane reportedly hit a car and motorcycle " he told a media briefing at the scene.

Hussein said at this time his team expects at least 10 victims were killed.

The Malaysian Bombing and Rescue Service (JBPM) Selangor took nearly 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.

The bodies of all the victims were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang, for post mortem

The aircraft is believed to be a Premier 1 Beechcraft type with registration number N28JV with a capacity of 8 passengers.

PUTRAJAYA – The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirms that a Beechcraft

Model 390 (Premier 1) registration number N28JV had crashed near Elmina, Shah Alam,

Selangor on Thursday, 17th August 2023. The aircraft operated by Jetvalet Sdn. Bhd.


departed from Langkawi International Airport at 2:08 p.m. to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah

Airport.

The first contact made by the aircraft with Subang Air Traffic Control Tower was at 2:47

p.m. and landing clearance was given at 2:48 p.m. At 2:51 p.m., the Subang Air Traffic

Control Tower observed smoke originating from the crash site but no mayday call was

made by the aircraft. Kuala Lumpur Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (KL ARCC)

has been activated to coordinate the search and rescue mission.

A total of six passengers and two flight crew were on board and their conditions have yet

to be confirmed at press time. The safety investigation will be conducted by the Air

Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia in accordance

with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.

KUALA LUMPUR - The police confirmed that a small plane crashed in the town of Elmina, Shah Alam this afternoon.

The video recording of the incident is now viral on social media and it is said that the accident also involved a motorcycle.

A video posted by Twitter user @qamahl captured the site of the crash with debris strewn across a highway.

It is also understood that the plane was on its way from Langkawi to Subang.

According to Flight Aware data, the aircraft took off from Langkawi International Airport at 2:08pm.

Although it was intended to land at Subang International Airport, its final tracked location was near Subang Jaya at 2:49pm.

According to China Press, the small aircraft suddenly plummeted to the ground and exploded upon impact. Debris from the plane is said to have struck a motorcycle and car

Fire and rescue department personnel are at the scene.
