EPL: City top the chart, Liverpool claim a stunning victory

SHEFFIELD: Rodri scored a game-winning goal to help Manchester City to a narrow 2-1 win over Sheffield United in Premier League (EPL) action at Bramall Lane earlier today.
Jayden Boyle expected to steal a point for the 'Blades' with an 85th-minute equalizer but Rodri fired home a powerful shot three minutes later for City's winner.
Erling Haaland failed to convert a first-half penalty but made up for his disappointment with City's opening goal from Jack Grealish.
The victory allowed the defending champions to jump to the top of the league thanks to a clean sweep of three matches.

Meanwhile, Liverpool, who played with ten men after captain Virgil van Dijk was sent off, won 2-1 over Newcastle United away, the result of two goals from substitute Darwin Nunez.
The hosts first scored through Anthony Gordon, in the 25th minute.
But Nunez, who entered in the 77th minute, scored two goals and the winning goal for The Reds was stuffed in extra time as a result of Mohamed Salah's pass.
Aston Villa also picked up points with Matty Cash scoring twice to beat Burnley 3-1 who have failed to score any points since returning to the EPL.
Villa were beaten 1-5 by Newcastle in the opening action but bounced back to record three consecutive wins in all competitions.
Villa needed just seven minutes to open the scoring through Cash who finished off Ollie Watkins' pass before Cash volleyed home the second goal.
Burnley tried to bounce back through Lyle Foster but Moussa Diaby scored the third goal to seal victory for the visitors. -AGENCIES
