'Give Anwar more time for the country's economic revival'

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar decreed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should be given more time to improve the country's economy.
In a unique interview with Sin Chew Daily, he understands the financial challenges facing Anwar's administration.
"Anwar only realized the financial difficulties facing the country after taking over administration," he said in a typical interview with a local newspaper in Chinese.
Sultan Ibrahim also expressed his sense of relief at the Prime Minister's visit to China earlier this year which brought home positive results.
Touching on Anwar, Sultan Ibrahim said, he has a good relationship with the Prime Minister.
"There are times, he asks for beta's views and there are times, he gives advice to beta," the king ordered.
His Majesty also stressed the importance of Malaysia maintaining good relations with China.
In addition, the Sultan of Johor decreed that putting the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2U) program under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture which reports directly to the Prime Minister is the right approach.
"To attract more investors, Malaysia must offer an applicant-friendly and practical visa option, especially in the initial assessment of the current MM2U program because if the second phase of the program is not applicant-friendly and the third phase will be even worse," he said.
