Pendakwaan dikendalikan Timbalan Pendakwa Raya Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) Rifah Izzati Abdul Mutalif manakala tertuduh diwakili peguam Low Carmen.

- BERNAMA

- BERNAMA

CYBERJAYA: Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli today announced the realignment of the three bumiputera-mandated agencies under the supervision of the ministry, in line with the MADANI Government's goal to empower and boost the economic participation of bumiputera in a strategic, sustainable and effective manner.
It will be achieved through smart and innovative collaboration between the public and private sectors, in line with the MADANI Government principles that prioritise inclusivity, effectiveness and sustainability.
"The realignment of strategy and implementation for the Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (TERAJU), Yayasan Peneraju (YP) and Ekuiti Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas) was implemented after taking into account the views of various stakeholders through engagement sessions held earlier this year
"This realignment initiative was also carried out following the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan (MTR 12MP) which outlined a strategy to strengthen the role of bumiputera-mandated agencies in delivering the bumiputera agenda," he said.
Rafizi said this at the Scaling Up Bumiputera Value Creation ceremony here this morning, which was attended by more than 500 people including representatives of bumiputera companies of various sizes, corporate leaders, government-related companies and government agencies.
He said that through this realignment, YP, TERAJU and Ekuinas will play a special role in the bumputera entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He said YP will focus on talent development to increase the level of bumiputera value creators, while TERAJU will act as a super-scaler in driving growth and expanding the scale of bumiputera companies to a higher and competitive level in the global arena, while Ekuinas will continue to drive wealth creation and bumputera's economic involvement through corporate equity ownership.
"By 2030, as a result of this realignment, the three agencies involved have been given targets to achieve.
"YP needs to provide 10,000 bumiputera talents who are ready to compete and become industry players, TERAJU is targeted to provide financing facilities amounting to RM1 billion through collaboration with the private sector and develop and improve the capabilities of 1,000 companies," Rafizi said.
Ekuinas will support more bumiputra entrepreneurial companies that have excellent track records and profits.
Through a RM800 million fund, Ekuinas will invest to support the growth of these companies, ensuring they continue to grow and achieve greater success in the market, said Rafizi.
Meanwhile, today's ceremony also witnessed the exchange of a number of memoranda of understanding witnessed by Rafizi, among which was between TERAJU and Leave a Nest for collaboration and networking opportunities through strategic ecosystems, access to funding and prototyping support.
Apart from that, TERAJU will also collaborate with the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research for a facilitation programme through bumiputera corporate depositories, consultation services and advisory services.
TERAJU will collaborate with SIRIM Bhd for a facilitation programme through consultation and advisory services that focus on technology products and services.

BALI: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, joined world leaders at the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) high-level leadership meeting, which commenced here today.
The meeting was attended by leaders from Fiji, France, Hungary, Morocco, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, and the United Arab Emirates. Representatives from global organisations, including the United Nations General Assembly and the World Water Council (WWC), were also present.
Upon their arrival at the Bali International Convention Centre in Nusa Dua, Fadillah and other dignitaries were welcomed by President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi. The opening ceremony was also attended by SpaceX owner Elon Musk.
In his opening speech, Jokowi expressed hope for continuous global collaboration to strengthen commitment to addressing global water challenges and preserving water for future prosperity.
"Of the 72 per cent of the earth's surface covered by water, only one per cent is accessible and useable for drinking water and sanitation needs. By 2050, 500 million small farmers, who contribute 80 per cent of the world's food supply, are predicted to be most vulnerable to drought," he said.
Jokowi noted that Indonesia, with 65 per cent of its area covered by water, has rich local wisdom in water management, from coastlines and riverbanks to lakesides.
"In Indonesia, collaboration has been the key to success in restoring the Citarum River in West Java as well as the development of green energy, floating solar panels in the Cirata dam, the largest in Southeast Asia and the third largest in the world," he said.
Meanwhile, Musk expressed optimism about future water and energy solutions for the world. He praised Indonesia's mangrove reforestation efforts and emphasised the need to avoid complacency. He also discussed the earth's water abundance, suggesting that aliens might call our planet "Water" instead of "Earth," and argued that the water crisis is solvable with ongoing desalination advancements.
"Although desalination and water transport are necessary, desalination has become very inexpensive. Therefore, the availability of fresh water is mainly a matter of energy and transport," he added.
The WWF, held every three years, is co-organised by the WWC and the host country. This year's event, themed "Water for Shared Prosperity," runs from May 18 to 21.
The forum aims to foster global cooperation and promote actions in identifying current issues related to water management through integrated solutions. Its focus areas include water conservation, clean water, food and energy security, and disaster mitigation.

Dengue cases increased, 40 deaths since January
People are advised to keep making sure that there are no breeding places for Aedes mosquitoes inside and outside the house. - Decorative pictures
PUTRAJAYA: A total of 343 new cases of dengue fever were reported during the 19th Epidemiology Week (ME19) for the period 5 to 11 May last, making the cumulative number of cases 2,338 cases compared to 1,995 cases in the previous week.
Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan said one death due to complications from dengue fever was also recorded during the period.
In today's statement he said the cumulative number of dengue fever cases reported up to ME19 was 57,220 cases compared to 41,175 cases for the same period in 2023, while there were 40 deaths due to dengue fever complications (ME19) reported compared to 26 deaths for the same period last year.
"The number of hotspot localities reported in ME19 was 60 localities compared to 70 hotspot localities in the previous week.
"Of the 60 localities reported, 45 localities are in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (seven), Sarawak (three), Penang (two), and one locality each in Kedah, Perak and Negeri Sembilan," he said.
Regarding the Southwest Monsoon with rainfall expected to decrease and the weather to become hotter, he said the tiu situation could contribute to an increase in the population of Aedes mosquitoes in the environment due to the mosquito's life cycle from the egg phase to adulthood will be shorter.
Therefore, the public is advised to continue to ensure that there are no Aedes mosquito breeding places inside and outside the house by doing 'search and destroy' Aedes mosquito breeding activities for at least 10 minutes once a week.

Immediately, 73 teams, including a tracking dog unit, were deployed to the affected area but were faced with heavy rain and fog.
Earlier, the helicopter carrying Iran's President and Foreign Minister was reported to have had to make an 'emergency landing' in a mountainous area in northwestern Iran.
The incident happened on Sunday in the Dizmar Forest between the towns of Varzaqan and Jolfa in East Azerbaijan Province when Raisi was on his way back from a dam inauguration ceremony with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
Local residents reported hearing a 'loud noise' in the area shortly afterwards.
