The giant pharmaceutical company of the COVID-19 vaccine, AstraZeneca, is withdrawing its vaccine from the world market.
This comes after the company admitted in court documents that the vaccine could cause rare and dangerous side effects.
However, the pharmaceutical giant said that the vaccine was withdrawn from the market for commercial reasons.
The vaccine is also no longer authorized for use in the European Union (EU) since the company voluntarily withdrew its "marketing authorization."
The withdrawal application was submitted on March 5 and took effect on Tuesday.
A similar production application will be submitted in the United Kingdom (UK) and other countries that have previously approved the vaccine, known as Vaxzevria.
Calling the decision "purely coincidental", the pharmaceutical giant insisted that the withdrawal of the vaccine was not linked to its admission that it could cause Thrombosis Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS).
