Previously, Asia Mobility was one of the two companies selected to implement the DRT project as a result of the Selangor government's initiative through the Selangor Mobility Initiative.
The Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil denied that the project was handed over directly to a company owned by the husband of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, namely Ramachandran Muniandy.
Previously, there was an alleged contract for the Selangor Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) project given to a company owned by Ramachandran, namely Asia Mobility Technologies.
In the allegation, the Selangor government is said to have given the project to the company through a direct tender.
"The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has informed about the issue of Asia Mobility and has done a proof of concept in Selangor and he (Prime Minister) also reminded Cabinet ministers that the license held by the company was issued by the Land Transport Agency (APAD) and no contract has been given yet.
"And like what the Prime Minister said on Tuesday (May 28), if there is a report made to the authorities, they will conduct an investigation," said Fahmi.
Recently, Anwar has said that the investigation needs to be done transparently if a report is made on the project.
Nevertheless, the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Tan Sri Azam Baki said that there was no need to investigate the project.
This is because, there are no mistakes made in the project.
The dispute over the selection of Asia Mobility for the project arose after citizens questioned whether the project was awarded through open tender or direct negotiation.
In fact, the company's merit to handle the project was also questioned because of Ramachandran's presence in Asia Mobility.
