Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia, 3- pairs in Men's Doubles, 2- Mixed Doubles and 1-Women's Doubles in the last 16 of Badminton World Championships 2023

 




The country's professional men's singles player, Lee Zii Jia, has no problem winning the second round of the Copenhagen 2023 Badminton World Championships after successfully defeating Canada's representative, Brian Yang.


Zii Jia, who is ranked 13th in the world, took 33 minutes to win in straight sets 21-11, 21-16 at the Royal Arena.


Waiting for Zii Jia in the third round is the 12th seed from Denmark, Anders Antonsen who eliminated another national men's singles player, Ng Tze Yong 22-24, 16-21.


Also advancing to the third round is the national women's doubles, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah after they successfully defeated the Scottish pair, Julie Macpherson-Ciara Torrance 21-15, 21-10.


The 10th seeds will face Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara in the third round.


Based on the record, Pearly-Thinaah leads 2-1 over the tournament's fourth seed.


Meanwhile, the national men's doubles, who are also seeded seventh, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi also advanced after defeating the Thai pair, Pharanyu Kaosamaang-Worrapol Thongsa Nga 21-16, 18-21, 21-12.


Awaiting them in the third round is the winner between the 11th choices from Denmark, Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup or Scotland's representative, Alexander Dunn-Adam Hall.
