Malaysia To Send 15 Participants to "TVET Olympics" WorldSkills Competition 2024 from 7-16 September 2024 - "Road to Lyon 2024"

 




The government is providing special incentives to Road to Lyon 2024 participants who win the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) in Lyon, France next September 7 to 16.


According to Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, the gold medalist will receive RM40,000 in cash, the silver medalist RM20,000 and the bronze medalist RM10,000.


He said, participants who successfully achieve excellent performance and collect gold, silver and bronze medals will receive recognition in the form of a Malaysian Advanced Diploma of Skills (DLKM) certificate by the Skills Development Department.


He added that participants who obtain the Medallion for Excellence will also receive a cash incentive of RM4,000.


The incentive was announced at the Road to Lyon 2024 launch ceremony which took place tonight. Also present was Deputy Minister of Public Works Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.


"I hope that with the support given, the participants will give the best performance while performing at the WSC Lyon 2024 later in order to make the country and TVET education proud," he said.


The national team will be represented by 15 skilled youth consisting of students from Public Skills Training Institutions and Higher Education Institutions across the country.


They will compete in 14 of the 62 skill areas contested.


Participants are selected from among those who achieved excellent results at the WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi 2023 Competition, WorldSkills ASEAN Singapore 2023, Worldskills Malaysia Youth Competition (WSMB) 2022 and 2023.
