An explanation of the sale of MAHB shares is the focus of the Dewan Rakyat today

KUALA LUMPUR: An explanation regarding the sale of shares of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is one of the matters that will be the focus of today's Dewan Rakyat conference.

According to the Rules of Procedure on the Parliament portal, the question was asked by Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN-Paya Besar) to the Prime Minister during Minister's Question Time.

Mohd Shahar asked the Prime Minister to clarify the decision of the consortium of government-related investment companies on the sale of the MAHB shares.

At the same session, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (PN-Alor Setar) asked the Prime Minister to state the government's strategy following Malaysia's position falling to 34th in the World Competitiveness Index 2024.

In the questions-for-oral session, Manndzri Nasib (PN-Tenggara) asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government to state the form of assistance provided to home buyers who are facing problems with sick projects, especially housing projects under the people's housing initiative.

In addition, Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-Rantau Panjang) asked the Minister of Health to state the number of cases received through the Mental Health Crisis Helpline to date, as well as the follow-up actions taken to help those in need.

After the session, the Dewan Rakyat session continued by resuming the debate on the Workers' Social Security (Amendment) Bill 2024 for the second reading from the Minister of Human Resources.

Also listed in today's meeting agenda is the presentation of the Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Bill 2024, also from the Minister of Human Resources.

The Second Meeting, Third Term of the 15th Parliament will last for 15 days until July 18.
