MACC detained Singaporean for 'bribing' 11 law enforcers for two years




A Singaporean was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of paying bribes to law enforcement officers in return for helping to evade tax payments on goods imported by his company. Sources said the suspect, aged in his 40s, was arrested at about 5pm on June 24 when he was asked to testify at the MACC office in Putrajaya. He said the suspect was suspected of committing the act between 2022 and 2024. The Senior Director of the MACC Investigation Division, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case was investigated under Sections 16(a) and 17(a) of the MACC Act. 2009 He said the suspect was brought to the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court this morning and Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin issued a six-month remand order starting today until June
