PETALING JAYA – Chinese-language newspaper, Sin Chew Daily today apologised for the mistake of displaying a picture of the Jalur Gemilang without the crescent moon in its newspaper recently.
Sin Chew said in a statement that the incomplete Jalur Gemilang illustration on the front page of the newspaper was due to an unintentional technical error.
"We are deeply sorry and disappointed by the error. On behalf of all the staff at Sin Chew Daily, we extend our deepest apologies to all Malaysians."
"Immediate amendments have been made to the digital version of the illustration. The amended and improved illustration will be republished tomorrow in the print version of our newspaper," he said.
Earlier, it went viral on social media that the illustration of the Jalur Gemilang placed next to the Chinese flag was incomplete without the crescent moon.
The mistake caused outrage among Malaysians, who described the newspaper as insensitive.
