KUALA LUMPUR: A 21-year-old woman was fined RM1,300 by the magistrate's court today for offering sex service to a policeman.

Magistrate Maizatul Munirah Abd Rahman sentenced Nur Fathin Nadira Abdullah after she pleaded guilty to soliciting for the purpose of prostitution to policeman K.Thiagarajan for RM60 per service.

Nur Fathin committed the offence in front of Excel Inn Hotel in Jalan Petaling, Dang Wangi here, about 4.20pm on March 23.

The accused's counsel Mohammad Arifin Abdul Wahab pleaded for a lenient sentence, saying this was the woman's first offence.

He said his client had to drop out of school early due to financial constraints faced by her family.

Maizatul ordered Nur Fathin to serve two months' jail should she fail to pay the fine.
