Redelineation motion passed by Dewan Rakyat

KUALA LUMPUR: The motion on the redelineation was passed in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (March 28) with 129 votes for and 80 votes against.
It only needed a simple majority of 111 lawmakers to be passed.
There were 14 lawmakers from both sides of the divide who debated the motion on Wednesday.
The motion was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the afternoon and was put to debate.
Deputy Prime MInister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his winding up speech said that the Election Commission (EC) took into account all the grouses raised by various parties and have dealt with them accordingly.
"Even the Government had objections to some of the recommendations from the EC but we did not meddle in their affairs.
"Instead, we accept and respect the EC's decision and their proposed recommendations for the report," he said.
Now that the motion on the proposed redelineation has been passed, it will then be gazetted upon receiving the Royal assent. It need not go to the Senate to be debated and passed
