Paramedics said they treated 10 people who were hit by a 4x4 on Westminster Bridge before it crashed into the gates of Parliament at lunchtime.
An attacker then broke into the grounds of Parliament and stabbed a police officer before he was shot.
Whitehall was put on lock down following the attack and Prime Minister Theresa May is said to have been bundled into a car by a plain-clothes officer and sped to safety.
The Metropolitan Police counter terrorism command is leading the investigation.
