Russia announces ceasefire in Ukraine for Easter

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a temporary ceasefire in conjunction with the Easter celebrations in Ukraine, starting at 6pm Saturday until midnight Monday, local time.
The Kremlin announced the matter via its official Telegram channel on Saturday, stating that the decision was made on humanitarian grounds.
According to the statement, Moscow assumes that Ukraine will also take similar steps, but to date Kyiv has not issued any official response.
At the same time, the Russian military was instructed to continue to be prepared to face any ceasefire violations, provocations or aggressive actions from the opposing side.
