Firefighters remove python found under car bonnet
SELAYANG: Firefighters removed a metre-long python found under the bonnet of a car parked outside a hypermarket in Jalan Batu Caves here.
Selayang fire and rescue station operations commander Mohd Kasirin Ibrahim said the python was found in the engine compartment of a new car that was displayed outside a dealership.
He said seven firemen arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after receiving a distress call at 12.24pm Thursday.
“When we arrived, the bonnet of the car was closed. I assumed that whoever found the snake was shocked and closed the bonnet.
“We removed the python and ended our operations at 1.04pm,” Mohd Kasirin said.
He said the Fire and Rescue Department regularly received reports about snakes being found in the car engine compartment.
“In 2016, I was involved in about 30 operations to remove snakes from the car engine compartment.
“This is so far the biggest python I’ve ever seen," he said.
Mohd Kasirin said the python was unharmed and released into the nearest jungle.
