GEORGE TOWN: A man with a “Datuk Seri” and 11 others have been charged with rioting at an entertainment outlet here.  
Loh Peng Kok, who turns 36 in a few days, and the others were charged with rioting in a room at an entertainment outlet in a shopping centre on Burma Road, at 3.58am on March 18.  
The other 11 accused include Curtis Veeran, 19, J. Shatheeswaran, 24, Muhamad Naim Abdull Rahman, 18, N. Kartigk, 26, Ng Hao Ning, 29, and Siow Pier Sheng, 24.  
The rest are Tan Ban Chuan, 46, Tan Kai Chong, 21, Tan Teong Boon, 24, Teoh Chee Seng, 36, and Teoh Kim Teik, 20.  
They were all charged under Section 147 of the Penal Code at the magistrate’s court here Tuesday morning. All claimed trial.  
R.S.N. Rayer, who represented the 12 accused, appealed to the court to grant bail.  
“I appeal to the court to grant bail of RM2,000 per person, an amount that is reasonable to be posted by their family members,” he said.  
Magistrate Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid set bail at RM3,000 per person in one surety and fixed May 5 for mention.  
A number of titled businessmen have been charged with various offences over the last few weeks, among them Datuk Seri Ng Chian Sia who was charged with being a member of Gang 24 in February.
