Datuk T. Subromaniam has been appointed the new Customs Director-General

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk T. Subromaniam (pic) has been appointed the new Customs Director-General, effective Friday, said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.
Subromaniam, 58, who was previously Customs Deputy Director-General (Enforcement and Compliance) takes over from Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad.
"He has wide experience in the field of administrative management, tax management and enforcement.
"With his experience, knowledge and credibility, I believe he will bear his responsibilities effectively, and continue the department's vision of providing worldclass customs service," said Ali in a statement on the appointment.
Subromaniam has been with the civil service for more than 33 years, beginning as customs enforcement officer on July 29, 1984.
He has also served as director of Customs Investigation (Enforcement Division) and chief assistant director of the Customs Investigation Branch.
Meanwhile, Ali said the government recorded its highest appreciation and thanks to Khazali for his contribution and service to the civil service and nation for more than 36 years. - Bernama
