Datuk in Penang remanded for five days in graft probe
GEORGE TOWN: A prominent Datuk in Penang has been remanded for five days from Thursday to assist in investigations into alleged abuse of power and position in a local foundation.
Magistrate Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid allowed the application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against the 70-year-old.
The handcuffed man, clad in orange prison attire, arrived at the court complex here at 10.30am and will be investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
The Datuk turned himself in at the Penang MACC office at 8.47pm on Wednesday to assist in investigations into misappropriation of millions of ringgit in the foundation.
