Malaysia Airlines collaborates with Manchester United for new livery

Malaysia Airlines has revealed a series of strategic moves designed to boost its global footprint and enhance connectivity, including the launch of a co-branded aircraft livery with Manchester United. The airline also confirmed its planned return to Brisbane in November 2025, along with expanded flight frequencies across its Asia-Pacific network, reinforcing its role as a key gateway to Asia and beyond.

The newly unveiled livery, featured on the airline’s flagship A330-300, is a seamless blend of Malaysia’s national pride and the worldwide prestige of Manchester United. With striking red lines flowing from the Malaysian flag into the club’s signature red, the design symbolizes the strength, unity, and harmony between aviation and sports—two powerful forces that bring people together globally.

The event was made even more special by the appearance of Manchester United legends Dimitar Berbatov, Nemanja Vidić, and Luís Nani, who joined the festivities in Malaysia. Football fans can look forward to exciting meet-and-greet sessions from April 18-20, 2025, at the MAG Arena, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with these football greats.

At the same event, Malaysia Airlines introduced its new lie-flat Business Class seats for the Boeing 737-10, marking a first for its narrowbody fleet. This upgrade brings a premium, consistent travel experience to regional routes, offering seamless journeys such as from Trivandrum to Kuala Lumpur on the 737-10, with onward connections to Melbourne on the A330neo. With plans to operate 55 Boeing 737-8 and 737-10 aircraft by 2030, this initiative supports the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization and its ambition to rank among the Top 10 global and Top 5 Asian airlines.

Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “This marks a bold and exciting new chapter for Malaysia Airlines, as we unite the passion of sport, the spirit of innovation, and the pride of our nation. Our partnership with Manchester United embodies shared values of excellence and global ambition, while the resumption of Brisbane flights and expanded regional connectivity reinforce our strategic focus on growth. With the introduction of lie-flat Business Class seats on our new Boeing 737-10 aircraft, we are redefining the travel experience for our guests. As we continue to elevate our offerings, we remain steadfast in our commitment to reimagining travel through the lens of Malaysian Hospitality, guided by our vision to be among the world’s leading airlines.”

Product Enhancements

Malaysia Airlines has introduced a variety of new options across its Economy Class fare categories, providing passengers with more flexibility to suit their travel preferences. With the introduction of Economy Value (formerly Economy Lite), Economy Basic, and Economy Flex, the airline continues to focus on enhancing its customer-centric experience. The Economy Value option includes benefits such as 7kg cabin baggage, 20kg checked baggage, complimentary meals, a 10% discount for children, and optional booking flexibility for an additional fee, all designed to offer comfort and convenience while embodying Malaysia’s renowned hospitality.

In addition, Malaysia Airlines has expanded its EnrichMoney offerings with a multi-currency e-wallet and Visa prepaid card, aimed at enhancing both travel and lifestyle experiences. The latest feature, Pay with EnrichMoney Points, allows members to redeem their points instantly via DuitNow QR at participating merchants, making this the first service of its kind in Malaysia. From April 18 to May 31, 2025, users of this feature will enjoy a discount of up to RM5, providing a seamless way to convert loyalty points into real-world value.

The airline’s continued growth is reinforced through strategic partnerships with key industry players such as Google, Atout France, Panorama Group, and Student Universe. These collaborations underscore Malaysia Airlines’ forward-thinking approach to fostering growth and advancing its digital transformation within the travel industry.
