Sungai Tua assemblyman, Amirudin Shari, was once again trusted to be Selangor menteri besar after he took the oath of office at Istana Alam Shah, Kelang, this morning.

It is Amirudin's second term leading the state government.

The Selangor PH chairman took the oath in front of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at about 11.25am.

Also present at the swearing-in ceremony were Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

The state government was formed on August 12 after the combination of PH and BN controlled 34 of the 56 seats in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

The remaining 22 seats were won by PN.

Of the 34 seats, 15 were won by DAP while PKR won 12 and Amanah won 5. BN won 2 seats.

In the state election (PRN) that took place on August 12, Amirudin defended the Sungai Tua state assembly seat with a majority of 5,185 votes.

The PKR vice-president was one of the three names submitted to Sultan Sharafuddin to be selected as menteri besar.

The other two names that were allegedly put forward were Assemblyman Seri Setia, Fahmi Ngah - who is considered to be allied with PKR President Anwar Ibrahim - and Amirudin's former political aide who is also Assemblyman for Tanjung Sepat, Borhan Aman Shah.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new state government exco member positions will take place at 2pm today.
