Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios (PIMS) has projected a total of RM1.8bil of direct local spending within the next eight years.

NUSAJAYA: Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios (PIMS) has projected a total of RM1.8bil of direct local spending within the next eight years.

Director Datuk Mohd Badliahan Ghazali also expressed his belief that studios would help attract regional and international filmakers to the country, adding that PIMS provided 100,000 square feet of stages for movie and television productions with state-of-the-art equipment.
“Weinstein Production has already invested RM100,000 into the studio as they are currently filming the Marco Polo mini series right here,” he said at the official launch of the studio in Kota Iskandar here.
Mohd Badlisham also said that PIMS is also expected to generate more than 1,700 freelance jobs to the locals annually.
The launch was officiated by Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
