PETALING JAYA: Two business partners were injured when a man on a motorcycle shot them while they were in a parked car in Rawang,
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad said the victims, a 48-year-old man from Sungai Gadut, Negri Sembilan, and a 41-year-old woman from Klang, were in the car along Jalan Bandar Rawang II, when two men on a motorcycle approached their vehicle at about 1am yesterday.
“According to the victims, they were discussing business when the men, both wearing a baseball cap, came alongside their car,” he said.
ACP Ali said when the window on the driver’s side suddenly shattered and the businessman thought they were facing a robbery attempt.
“He immediately started his car and sped to a police station about 500m away,” said ACP Ali, adding that the man initially thought that a hammer was used to break his car window.
“Investigation, however, revealed that two shots were fired at the window by one of the men on the motorcycle,” he said.
“The businessman’s left arm was grazed while the same bullet pierced the woman’s abdomen,” he said.
He added that the victims had claimed that they did not hear the shots being fired at their car at the time of the incident.
“They also claimed that they do not have enemies,” said ACP Ali.
He added, “We are still ascertaining the motive behind the vicious attack.”
Police found two empty slugs and one 9mm Luger live bullet at the scene of crime.
The victims are currently receiving treatment at the Selayang Hospital. The case is being investigated by police for attempted murder.
