Tony Fernandes quits Twitter

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia boss Tan Sri Tony Fernandes shocked his Twitter followers when he deactivated his account on Friday.
One of the AirAsia chief’s followers, Danny Gipson @DannyGipson, posted a screenshot of Fernandes’s final five tweets.
“I will be closing down my Twitter account today. As I said wait till QPR get promoted and I reach 50. I may restart dedicated accounts,” and, “Goodbye all. Maybe I return. Been fun. Damn useful. Speak the truth and be brave,” read two of the Queens Park Rangers chairman’s final tweets.

QPR was promoted to the Barclays Premier
League following the club’s victory over Derby County in the Championship playoff final last month.
Fernandes, the group chief executive officer and director of AirAsia Berhad, capped off his goodbye by saying: “Stand up for what you believe, fight oppression and most importantly, enjoy life. Bye bye all!”
Fernandes’ exit took everyone by surprise with many tweeters expressing sadness.
Will Buxton ‏@willbuxton, for one, said that Fernandes’ absence from Twitter was a shame as he was a voice of reason in a sea of insanity.
