PETALING JAYA: Seventy-five foreigners, including 57 female workers aged between 20 and 40, were arrested during an anti-vice raid at a club in Damansara Utama.
Selangor Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies (D7) division officer Deputy Supt Abdul Ghofar Ahmad said that the operation, codenamed Ops Noda, was led by four officers and a 13-strong team on Saturday night.
“The club manager, a local man in his 30s, was apprehended along with the DJ and bouncer.
“We also arrested the security guard who initially stopped us from entering the premises. We believe that he may be part of Gang 21 based on a tattoo on his arm,” he added.
DSP Abdul Ghofar said police detained 18 foreign male club workers for not possessing valid identification documents.
“All foreign detainees are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Anti-Trafficking in Persons (ATIP) Act,” he added.
DSP Abdul Ghofar explained that police are look at possibilities that the workers were brought into the country by migrant-smuggling syndicates.
“The syndicates act as ‘vehicles’ to transport migrants into the country in large numbers,” he added.
The detainees were sent to the Petaling Jaya district headquarters to assist in investigations. Three receipts were confiscated from the premises to be submitted as evidence
