KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman had part of his left ear bitten off by a Nigerian man while trying to put the suspect into a police patrol vehicle (MPV) at Jalan Kepong, Metro Prima, this morning.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at 10.03am when the corporal was helping to bring the suspect to the Sentul District Police Headquarters (IPD).
The action was taken after the man was found to be making a disturbance at a clinic in the area.
He said preliminary investigations found that the suspect acted aggressively when he was about to get into a police vehicle.
"At that time, his hands were already tied behind his back. Suddenly, the suspect bit the member's left ear until it was partially severed.
"The member was then taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for treatment. The victim's condition is now reported to be stable," he said in a statement today.
