NEW DELHI: Customs officers at the Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) airport in southern India confiscated 47 pythons from an Indian citizen who arrived from Kuala Lumpur.
All the pythons and two lizards were hidden in the passenger's luggage.
The reptile was seized under India's customary and wildlife protection laws and will be repatriated to Malaysia, local media reported on Monday.
The male passenger, who hails from Chennai, arrived at the airport on a Batik Air flight on July 29.
In April, Chennai airport authorities found 22 snakes in the luggage of a woman arriving from Kuala Lumpur. - BERNAMA
