Elmina Plane Crash: Truck Driver Tried To Save Foodpanda Rider Using A Fire Extinguisher

A lorry driver tried to save a motorcyclist involved in a plane crash in Elmina Town by using a fire extinguisher.

The heartbreaking incident was shared by the witness himself through a video sent on the social site, @affyndy's TikTok on Thursday.

According to the truck driver, as soon as the plane crashed, he rushed out of the truck and heard the victim screaming for help.

"I took the fire extinguisher that was in the truck and went near the deceased's location and at that time he (the motorcyclist) was still moving.

"I want to be close to the deceased, but there are still things that explode. Then I went close to the deceased and shot using a fire extinguisher," he wrote.

However, he claimed that the fire extinguisher used was not enough to put out the fire on the victim's body.

At the same time, he was upset that he could not save the life of the motorcyclist.

"I tried to save the motorcycle rider. I'm sorry," he said angrily.

Online food delivery company Foodpanda confirmed that the motorcyclist who died in a light plane crash on the Guthrie Highway near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, Selangor, on Thursday was Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Salleh, a 'rider' of the company.

The matter was informed by Foodpanda through sharing in a post on Facebook, on Friday.

Foodpanda, which uploaded the poster, also expressed its condolences to the entire family of the victims from Taman Sidam, Sungai Petani, Kedah.

"We are saddened to be informed that our rider Muhamad Hafiz was involved in the plane crash in Elmina on Thursday.

"He is the best rider of Foodpanda," they wrote.

His body is expected to be handed over to the next of kin today.

On Thursday, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) confirmed that ten victims died, including two of them involving civilians who happened to pass by the crash site in the incident at 2.40pm on Thursday.
