A child who was playing on a scooter in a residential area is believed to have died after being hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle.
The accident is understood to have happened in a housing estate, Eco Spring, Johor Bahru, Johor and was also recorded through a closed circuit camera (CCTV) located in a residence near the scene of the incident.
Based on the clip, a black pick-up truck vehicle was seen entering a road lane in the area which the child was also passing through at the time.
As a result of the violation, the victim was trapped under the car involved.
South Johor Bahru District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed that the case happened at 6.30pm last Friday.
According to The Star report , the child who died in the incident was three years old while the driver of the vehicle involved was understood to be 32 years old.
Raub said, no media statement will be issued to respect the victim's family.
In the meantime, it is understood that the pickup truck driver is an outsider and not a resident of the housing estate.
From what was found on Facebook, some claimed that the driver in question was a contractor believed to have construction and renovation works in the housing estate.
" My blood boils with this contractor in Eco Spring. You drive a car in that residential area slowly. You have no brain to drive a car like that on the highway in front of people's houses.
"Please hang this contractor to death. The residential area is gated and guarded , the boys are playing in there, playing bicycles," he said.
In the meantime, the average netizen also expressed their anger towards the driver who was seen driving at high speed despite being in a residential area.
