27 March 2025

PETALING JAYA – Renowned actor and producer, Datuk Hans Isaac has once again been entrusted to lead the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (Finas) after being appointed as the agency's new chairman.
Hans, whose real name is Gerald Hans Isaac, 54, officially started his duties on Wednesday, replacing Datuk Kamil Othman who retired on Feb 22.
The official announcement was made through a statement by Finas on Instagram.
"I would like to express my appreciation and congratulations to Datuk Gerald Hans Isaac on his appointment as the Chairman of Finas effective March 26, 2025," the statement said.
This appointment is not the first time for Hans, previously, he had held the same position from April 2019 to May 2020 before resigning following political changes at that time.
Commenting on the reappointment, the Cuci actor admitted that the challenge of steering Finas was not easy, but he was still ready to take on the big responsibility for the country's art industry.
"My term of office at the Malaysia Stadium Corporation has come to an end. Now I will step into an industry that has successfully catapulted my name to a level.
"I once served as the Chairman of Finas and had to resign after the political imbalance, the Sheraton Move. I want to implement various manifestos in the art industry, in addition to lifting the fighters behind the veil to accept the similarities of their sweat.
"Now, I am back to hold the mandate as the Chairman of Finas for the new term. I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the Minister of Communications, YB Datuk Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil for trusting me to carry out this responsibility," he said on Instagram.
As an experienced figure in the creative industry, Hans is known not only as an actor, but also as a prolific director and producer.
His name began to shine around 1995 through the film Ringgit Kasorrga, before continuing to strengthen his position in the industry with popular works such as Buli Balik, Baik Punya Cilok, Langgar and Qabil Khushry Qabil Igam.
Apart from the world of film, Hans is also active in theatre and television dramas.
The decision to reappoint him as the Chairman of Finas is expected to breathe new life into the country's art industry.
With this appointment, the focus is now on the steps Hans will take in navigating Finas towards a more progressive and competitive future.
