SHAH ALAM: Three men, including a foreigner, were arrested along with 61.3 kilograms (kg) of suspected syabu and cannabis drugs estimated to be worth RM1.06 million in two separate arrests at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2 on Jan 22 and 24.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the first case involved two local men aged 25 and 18 from Sarawak who were arrested while pulling luggage at KLIA Terminal 2 at 5.30pm on Jan 22.

"Police checks found 30 plastic packages containing syabu drugs weighing 30.3 kg, which is estimated to be worth RM967,000.

The two suspects first set foot in Peninsular Malaysia and were taken to stay at a serviced apartment in Kota Warisan, Sepang by the syndicate.

"They are believed to be in contact with the syndicate through social media and are tasked with bringing drug supplies to the Sarawak market, especially in Miri. They were offered a wage of RM600 for each kilogram of drugs carried," he said in a press conference at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) Senior Officer Mess today.

He said investigations also found that one of the suspects was working as a truck driver and was married, while the other was unemployed and single.

In the second case, a 36-year-old British man was arrested with 31 kg of compressed lumps believed to contain cannabis worth RM96,000 at 10.30pm on Jan 24 around KLIA Terminal 1.

"The suspect worked as a security guard abroad and entered Malaysia from London on Jan 16 before being scheduled to return there with the drugs," he said.

He said checks found that the foreign suspect did not have any criminal record in Malaysia, but his initial urine test was found to be positive for drugs.

"All the suspects were remanded for seven days and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said.
