BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police arrested three men following an incident of fighting in front of a temple in Alma, here, when people were performing a religious ceremony last Sunday.

Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Tan Cheng San said that the three of them, each aged between 21 and 25 years old, were arrested by police who were on duty to maintain peace in the temple area.

According to Cheng San, this group of men had a fight with each other by hitting with hands and chairs at 12.05 midnight.



"At that time, there were many people who were at the temple in question to perform a religious ceremony," he said in a media statement, here, on Monday.

He explained that two videos lasting 14 and 27 seconds uploaded by a Twitter account owner went viral around 10.15am on Monday.

Cheng San said that the three arrested suspects were remanded for four days until this Wednesday.

He said, so far, the cause of the fight is still under investigation by the police.

The case is investigated according to Section 160 of the Penal Code.
