Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan has been appointed solicitor general (SG) effective Oct 2.


The Attorney-General's Chambers in a statement today also announced the appointment of Datuk Suzana Atan as solicitor-general II effective the same date.

The solicitor general's post fell vacant following the appointment of the then SG Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh as the Attorney-General (AGC) earlier this month.


Almalena will assist the AG and act as a public prosecutor in the absence of the AG under subsection 376(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Meanwhile, Suzana will be responsible for overseeing the AGC advisory sector, which includes the Advisory Division, the International Affairs Division, and the Research Division.
