KUALA LUMPUR - The total value of assets and properties seized as a result of the interrogation of former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) lawyer Jasmine Loo Ai Swan is estimated to be worth RM93.2 million.

Among the items seized were two portraits of Pablo Picasso, luxury watches and several lots of land outside the country.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said, as a result of the interrogation, Jasmine Loo was offered a salary of RM40,000 a month for the position of 1MDB Legal Adviser in May 2011.

He said, so far the suspect has confirmed ownership of his assets and properties in the United States, Switzerland, and Singapore obtained as a result of misappropriation of 1MDB funds.

"Investigations show that Jasmine Loo is the owner of a company registered in the Virgin Islands, United States that conducts real estate business and has opened a bank account with Jho Low in November 2012.

"Jasmine has received five transactions from several entities and companies amounting to US$ 16 million which was used to buy a property lot in New York worth US$ 4.6 million followed by a lot in London worth US$ 2.7 million, investments in the United States and US$ 5 million that was frozen by the Department of Justice (DOJ)," he said in a special press conference in Bukit Aman, here, today.

According to him, an associate of the fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho confirmed that he also received money from Jho Low including some luxury watches.

Ayob Khan added that his party made several asset seizures in a condominium in Bukit Damansara, here, which is believed to be where Jasmine Loo kept assets obtained from 1MDB funds.

"There were valuables worth around RM625,000 and the seizure involved two Richard Mille and Harry Winston brand watches, 13 handbags of various brands and various documents.

"There are several properties and bank accounts in Singapore found to be involved with Jasmine Loo," he said.

According to Ayob, last August 23, Jasmine made a Letter of Declaration (SD) to return the asset before handing it over to the Singaporean authorities.

Accordingly, he insisted that property under Jasmine Loo's name would be returned to the government in stages.

"The total value of the seized property and land is worth RM93.2 million which is the purchase value in 2013, and the price may increase.

"We will hand over Jasmine Loo to another agency because this investigation involves various agencies including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

"The 1MDB investigation continues as well as regarding the whereabouts of Jho Low. The investigation never stops and will take some time because it involves several foreign countries," he said
