Kuala Lumpur: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) confirmed that they have finished recording the statement of PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang at his office in Jalan Raja Laut here, today.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the investigation was carried out in accordance with Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
"A total of 24 questions were asked, he only answered five of those questions while the remaining questions will be answered in court.
"The investigation paper will be completed within one week before being referred to the Attorney General's Office (AGC) for further instructions," he said in a press conference in Bukit Aman here today.
Earlier, Harian Metro reported that Abdul Hadi Awang finished giving a statement to the police at the Pejabat PAS Pusat in Jalan Raja Laut, here, at 12.30 in the afternoon.
The evidence was taken to assist the investigation regarding Abdul Hadi's speech, which is believed to have disputed the authority of the Pardon Board in his talk at the party's headquarters in Bakri, Muar, last week.
His Political Secretary, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman reportedly said that Abdul Hadi provided good cooperation when giving evidence.
Meanwhile, when asked about the progress of the investigation regarding Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement which allegedly insulted the royal institution, Ayob said that the investigation is ongoing.
"We opened investigation papers and some of them have already been referred to the AGC.
"There are many police reports on Tun M including the Sedition Act. We are consulting the AGC and waiting for further instructions," he said.
