KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 -- Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for impersonating a senior officer from Bukit Aman and possessing an object resembling a pistol in Petaling Jaya early today.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the suspect was nabbed following a report lodged by a victim who claimed the suspect was introduced to him by a friend as an E8 (counter-terrorism division) officer to settle traffic summons.

“On Sept 23, the victim transferred RM100 into the suspect’s bank account to settle the summons. The victim met the suspect again at a restaurant in Damansara Damai the next day to ask for help to settle several other traffic offences,” he said when contacted here today.

According to Nik Ezanee, the suspect told the victim to transfer RM800 to him in stages, and during the meet-up, the victim noticed a gun-like object tucked on the suspect’s waistband.

“The victim became scared after the suspect said he had used the weapon before and made arrests,” he said, adding the suspect was placed under remand for four days until Sunday.

Meanwhile, Nik Ezanee said police had arrested a man involved in a road rage incident in Sungai Way here on Saturday (Sept 26).

The man was arrested at the vicinity of the Sungai Way Police Station at 11.50 pm last night after footage of the incident went viral on social media.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the incident occurred when a lorry driver was parking his vehicle at the roadside to deliver items.

“The 30-year-old suspect was unhappy when he was asked to move his car, and started using coarse language, besides breaking the side mirror of the victim’s lorry with a metal rod,” he said.

The police seized the metal rod believed to have been used in the incident from the suspect’s car, with the latter remanded for three days for further investigation.
