KUALA LUMPUR: A woman has filed a police report denying speculation – which has been going viral – that she has married former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak (pic).
The woman, who is in her 50s, lodged the report after pictures of her went viral on social media and messaging apps, claiming she is Najib's "second wife".
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail confirmed they had received a report from the woman, adding that they would refer the matter to the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
"Yes, we have received the report and have opened investigations. The MCMC has also been notified about the case," he said.
In the report sighted by The Star, the woman, identified as Noorhaiza Abdullah, denied being married to Najib.
She claimed that a Facebook page had uploaded a picture of her with Najib, alluding that they had married.
She claimed another picture of her was also going viral, with the caption "congratulating" them of their supposed marriage.
Noorhaiza said she lodged the report for fear of her own safety while urging the police to take action against the Facebook user.
