UPDATES ON THE CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 (COVID-19)
SITUATION IN MALAYSIA
Current Status of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Who Have Recovered
27 March 2020 – The Ministry of Health (MOH) would like to inform that 44 cases have fully recovered and discharged well today. Cumulatively, 259 confirmed COVID-19 cases have fully recovered and discharged well.
Current Situation of COVID-19 in Malaysia
27 March 2020, 12 pm – A total of 130 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) MOH today. Cumulatively there are now 2,161 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Malaysia.
Currently, 54 confirmed COVID-19 cases are receiving treatment in intensive care units(ICU), and of these, 34 cases are on ventilation support.
Regretfully, three (3) additional COVID-19 deaths were reported to the National CPRC MOH. Of these, one death was already reported earlier this morning through a posting on the Director General of Health’s Facebook. Cumulatively, there are now 26 COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia:
- Death #24: Case 1,056 is a 35 year-old Malaysian man who has a history of travelling to Indonesia. He was admitted into Kuala Lumpur Hospital on 18 March 2020. He was pronounced dead on 26 March 2020 at 9.30 pm.
- Death #25: Case 2,032 is a 83 year-old Malaysian man who has a history of chronic diseases. He was admitted into Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Perak on 25 March 2020. He was pronounced dead on 26 March 2020 at 6.55 pm.
- Death #26: Case 1,321 is a 53 year-old Malaysian man who was a close contact to a confirmed COVID-19 case (Case 1,309). He was admitted into Sungai Buloh Hospital on 22 March 2020. He was pronounced dead on 27 March 2020 at 10.30 am.
MOH conveys condolences to all their family members.
Enhanced Movement Control Order
The Malaysian Government has taken a drastic approach to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by implementing the Movement Control Order from 18 March 2020, that has now been extended until 14 April 2020. MOH is closely monitoring the number of new COVID-19 cases reported throughout Malaysia. Based on recent developments, the Government has decided to implement the Enhanced Movement Control Order (Enhanced MCO) in high-risk localities.
As announced by the Senior Minister (for Security Cluster) yesterday, the Government has decided to implement the Enhanced MCO in Kampung Dato’ Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato’ Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Johor beginning 27 March 2020 to 9 April 2020.
As of noon today, Kluang District, Johor reported 88 cases of COVID-19, and of these, 74 cases are from Kampung Dato’ Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato’ Ibrahim Majidin Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Johor.
The main objective of the Enhanced MCO is to prevent further spread of COVID-19 out of affected localities and to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission. This measure will allow more effective active case detection from house to house, as well as disinfection activities in these affected localities.
MOH aims to collect 300 samples daily starting today. Sampling will be prioritised amongst close contacts of confirmed cases, individuals with symptoms and individuals with known risk factors for more severe COVID-19 infection.
Cleaning and disinfection activities of public areas will be carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, and the Simpang Renggam District Council. These activities will focus on common public areas. Information on proper home disinfection procedures will also be given to all residents.
The health services provided at Klinik Desa Dato’ Ibrahim Majid will continue as normal, while emergency services will be coordinated by the Medical Emergency Coordination Centre (MECC).
Health Advisory on COVID-19
MOH advised the public to constantly practice the various health advisories issued by MOH. Each and every Malaysian can play an important role in reducing the spread of COVID-19 in the country. All Malaysians must:
- Remain at home
- Practise social distancing
- Wash hands frequently with water and soap

Sebahagian besar kematian adalah golongan berusia dan mempunyai sejarah penyakit kronik.
Kes kematian ke 25 (pesakit 2,032) ialah lelaki tempatan berumur 83thn yg mempunyai latar belakang penyakit kronik. Beliau dirawat di Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun pd 25 Mac dan disahkan meninggal pd 26 Mac jam 6.55pm.
Kes kematian ke-26 (pesakit 1,321) lelaki tempatan 53thn. Beliau adalah kontak rapat kpd kes positif kes ke-1,309. Dirawat di Hospital Sg Buloh pd 22 Mac dan disahkan meninggal dunia 27 Mac jam 10.30am.
Siasatan awal KKM mendapati terdapat 4 kluster di Kampung Dato Ibrahim Majid dan Bandar Baharu Dato Ibrahim Majid, di Simpang Renggam, Kluang. Ia melibatkan 4 individu yg pernah menghadiri perhimpunan di Seri Petaling dan menghadiri kenduri di dua kawasan itu.
Sehingga jam 12 tengah hari ini, Daerah Kluang, Johor melaporkan sebanyak 88 kes positif COVID-19, dengan 74 adalah dari Kampung Dato’ Ibrahim Majid dan Bandar Baharu Dato’ Ibrahim Majid di Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Johor.
Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Diperketatkan di dua kawasan itu bertujuan membendung jangkitan COVID-19 daripada menular keluar dari kawasan tersebut dan bagi memutuskan rangkaian jaringan penulasan COVID-19. Langkah iniakan membolehkan aktiviti pengesanan kes secara
aktif (active case detection) dari rumah ke rumah dilaksanakan, selain aktiviti nyahkuman dijalankan di kawasan berkaitan. KKM sasar 300 sampel ujian diambil setiap hari bermula hari ini. Persampelan diutamakan kpd kontak rapat, individu bergejala dan golongan berisiko.
