IGP Instructs Police to call in Tony Pua and investigate him for twisting the facts of Aminulrasyid

IGP: Pua to be probed for ‘confusing the rakyat’

THE STAR

PETALING JAYA: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has called on DAP lawmaker Tony Pua to be investigated for "confusing the rakyat".
Pua on Saturday tweeted a link to an article of Khalid saying that he will not apologise to the family of police shooting victim Aminulrasyid Amzah.
"This thug said 14-year old Aminulrasyid was shot by police because there was dangerous weapons in his car," tweeted Pua.
"Now it's shown that there was no proof that 'police acted after discovering a machete in the car' and the judge ruled that the IGP was 'guilty of misfeasance'.
"And he refused to even do the decent thing of apologising to the victim's family," said Pua.
In response to Pua, Khalid on Sunday tweeted that Pua was "purposely twisting the facts" with the aim to "confuse the rakyat".
"Call this person in for investigation," tweeted Khalid.
The Shah Alam High Court on Thursday found Khalid, who was Selangor police chief at the time, liable for public misfeasance.
Policeman Kpl Jenain Subi was found liable in causing the death of Aminulrasyid.
Following the shooting in 2010, Khalid held a press conference where he said initial investigations showed the police found a parang believed to have been used for criminal activity in the car.
Khalid said the deceased had reversed the car and tried to hit the patrol cars, which prompted the policemen to fire shots to defend themselves.
However, Kpl Jenain told the court the victim’s car had skidded and hit a wall after he was shot and had died when policemen arrived at the scene.
Justice Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim said that the testimonies of Kpl Jenain and Khalid were contradictory.
He awarded the family of Aminulrasyid RM414,800 in damages
