People’s congress: Dr Mahathir seeks Rulers’ support

SHAH ALAM: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says Rulers can act on the citizens declaration although there is no provision under the Federal Constitution to remove a Prime Minister.
"We want the Rulers to know the people's sentiment. That is why the rakyat must sign the declaration,” he said in his speech at the “Save Malaysia” congress here Sunday.
Dr Mahathir quipped that he would personally bring the declaration to the Rulers by using a lorry to theistana (palace).
"If there is a lorry, I would drive it myself to the palace," he added.
According to Dr Mahathir, it would be hard for the movement to get support from the people to sign the declaration because some maybe afraid to reveal their identities.
"It will be difficult to get signatures from the people. I understand their fear but the fear is certainly unfounded.
"They are afraid that something might happen to them," he claimed.
The citizens declaration seeks to oust Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
