KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry is considering taking action against two journalists from an Australian news organisation which recently broadcast a documentary on Malaysia.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamad said on Tuesday that the two - journalist Linton Besser and videographer Louie Eroglu from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Four Corners current news programme - were recently detained in Sarawak for trying to question Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"They tried to question Najib without a permit, so after this, we will take appropriate action.
"It is convenient that they are now overseas. If they come here, we will decide. Let them come here first," he added.
Asked if the journalists would be deported upon arrival, Nur Jazlan said the Immigration Department could take action against anyone for any reason.
"Now, this is a good reason, right," he added.
The Four Corners episode aired on Monday focused on alleged financial scandals linked to the Prime Minister.
