Pupil bullied into cutting own tongue
KLANG: Cowed into terror by the bullying from five boys, a Year Two pupil snipped the tip of his own tongue with a pair of scissors to submit to their demands.
He was bullied into doing the act by the group of nine-year-old boys in a classroom at a school in Bukit Tinggi here on Thursday, said South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Azman Abdul Razak.
The boy was given outpatient treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, he said, explaining that there was a small cut on the tip of his tongue.
The boy’s mother, a 28-year-old cashier, lodged a police report the following day at the South Klang district police headquarters.
According to the report, the mother received a call from the school about the incident at about 6pm on Thursday.
The boy told his mother and a teacher later that five boys had asked him to cut his own tongue if he did not want them to punch him in the face. Frightened, the boy did as he was told.
When contacted, Selangor Education Director Zainureen Mohd Noor said investigations were being carried out by the district Education Department and the school.
