Undersea cable fault causes Net slowdown for Malaysians

Many Malaysian Internet users have been experiencing a slowdown in Internet speed over the last three days or so because of a fault that has developed in the Asia America Gateway (AAG) undersea cable that connects Asia to the United States.
The AAG is a 20,000km fibre-optic submarine cable that provides connectivity for most of Asia including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Guam and Philippines with the United States.
TMNet's twitter feed officially announced the fault yesterday

Since Internet traffic from practically all service providers in Malaysia is routed through the same cables, users on all networks will experience a slowdown in speeds, especially when trying to access websites or services hosted in the United States.
According to TMNet’s twitter feed dated yesterday, repairs are underway to fix the fault, but the company did not specify when it will be completed or when service will return to normal.
