Paraglider left dangling from tree for two hours
PETALING JAYA: A French paraglider got more hang time than she had expected after her parachute got caught in a tree branch, leaving her dangling 24m off the ground for two hours in the Kuala Kubu Baru jungle.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department officers received a distress call from a paragliding club member about a friend being stuck in a tree in Bukit Batu Pahat at about 1.20pm yesterday.
Six officers from the department rushed to the scene, where they found the 28-year-old woman “hanging like a puppet” above the forest floor with her chute entangled in some branches.
Operations commander Md Razi Hassan said they had to scale a tree trunk that had fallen onto the tree the woman was caught on, and devise a rig to lower the woman to the ground safely.
“We took about an hour to do that and managed to get her down at about 4pm.
“She had no injuries but was quite tired,” said Md Razi.
