PETALING JAYA: A 34-year-old engineer has been arrested in connection with the leaked Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) papers, bringing the total number of those detained to seven.
Disclosing this, Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the man was arrested at 1.30pm on Monday in Kemaman, Terengganu.
SAC Gan said he was due to be remanded on Tuesday.
Earlier, a headmaster and two teachers were among six people who had been hauled up following the leak in UPSR exams that had forced pupils to resit the English and Science papers on Sept 30.
The six, aged 30 to 50, included two teachers and an insurance agent. They were being investigated under the Official Secrets Act.
SAC Gan said police also recorded the statements of 12 people, including six Education Ministry’s Examinations Syndicate officers and five teachers.
Kuala Lumpur police earlier arrested six people, of which two have been released on police bail.
They were detained in a series of raids in Penang, Parit Buntar, Perak, Kuala Ketil, Kedah and Sentul.
Bukit Aman CID chief Comm Datuk Mohmad Salleh said police were still recording statements from 10 others believed to be linked to the leaks in the UPSR English and Science papers.
