KLANG: Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali took his oath as the new Selangor Mentri Besar before Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at 10.40, Tuesday.
Donned in black traditional baju melayu and a Malay headpiece known as the tanjak, Azmin read the 10-point oath, among others, to serve the people with the best interest.
He then signed the pledge witnessed by Shah Alam High Court Chief Judge Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah.
The ceremony ended at 11am.
KLANG: PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has arrived at the Istana Alam Shah here for the swearing-in ceremony of the Selangor Mentri Besar.
Azmin arrived at 8.30am in his official car. He was accompanied by his wife Shamshida Taharin.
There was heavy security at the Palace with policemen and sentry guards stationed at every entrance.
All cars going into the Palace grounds were also checked before being allowed in.
Most of PKR and DAP assemblymen were not seen inside the Balairung Seri, where the ceremony will be taking place as assemblymen are not usually invited to attend.
However, Selangor state assembly speaker Hannah Yeoh was present, together with four former PAS state executive councillors.
The guests were also not allowed to take photos with mobile phones.
Azmin Ali and his wife Shamsidar Taharin entered the hall where the appointment will be held at 10.15am.
He will be sworn in as the 15th Selangor Mentri Besar at 10.30am, Tuesday.
