PUTRAJAYA: "God willing, I will fulfill this trust to the best of my ability," said the newly appointed Attorney General, Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh.

Earlier, he started his official duties on Wednesday morning by registering his attendance through the online system as soon as he arrived at 8.15am.

His presence was welcomed by the Solicitor General II, Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan as well as the heads of the Attorney General's Department (AGC).







Ahmad Terrirudin, 55, meanwhile expressed his gratitude to the government and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for allowing his appointment.

The appointment of Ahmad Terrirudin was made to replace Tan Sri Idrus Harun in accordance with Clause (1) Article 145 of the Federal Constitution.

It thus restores the appointed position of the position among the officers of the department.

Previously, the three incumbents consisted of outsiders starting with Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, Tan Sri Tommy Thomas and Tan Sri Idrus Harun who are each former Federal Court Judges and lawyers.

The last time the Attorney General among the agency's senior officers was Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail who held the highest position between 2002 and 2015
