KUALA LUMPUR: The Singaporean government apologizes to all Malaysians following the extreme actions of comedian from that country, Jocelyn Chia.

According to Singapore's High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon, he was shocked by the offensive comments made by Jocelyn in a recent stand-up comedy performance.

"The Singapore government cannot accept any words or actions that could cause harm or offend others and Chia, who no longer holds Singaporean citizenship, does not in any way reflect our views.

"I sincerely apologize to all Malaysians for the hurtful words from him," Vanu Gopala said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said this in commenting on the report of the comedian from Singapore, Jocelyn, who belittled and insulted the country through her stand-up comedy performance was described as extreme by netizens.

More surprisingly, the woman also used the tragedy of the loss of the MH370 plane as a joke capital, which angered netizens.

Through a viral video lasting one minute and 29 seconds that was uploaded on the social media site TikTok, the comedian described Malaysia's development as far behind compared to Singapore, which is a developed country after more than 40 years of separation from Malaya.
