The 'PM's wife' vehicle plate was not Wan Azizah's request
KOTA KINABALU: The picture that went viral on social media involving the license plate of the Prime Minister's wife was not at the request of Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Sabah State Government Secretary, Datuk Seri Safar Untong explained, on the other hand, it is the practice of the state government to provide the vehicle to VIPs during work visits and official visits to Sabah.
"I note that today a photo of the Prime Minister's wife's license plate taken at a prominent hotel in Kota Kinabalu has gone viral on social media.
"It is the practice of the Sabah state government to provide vehicle facilities for the Prime Minister and his wife, Deputy Prime Ministers and their wives as well as those involving the presence of VIP guests to Sabah during work visits and official visits," he said in a statement today.
According to him, the vehicle facilities provided include placing vehicle plates in the name of the title of guest and wife who use the vehicle.
"The Sabah state government provides vehicles according to the itinerary while in Kota Kinabalu.
"The plates were not at the request of Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah," he said.
Before that, a video and photo went viral on social media showing the license plate of the Prime Minister's Wife and claiming that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had pardoned the Prime Minister. -
