KAJANG: Police are tracking two local men who punched a convenience store worker in the face before taking a selfie with the victim in an incident in Semenyih, early this morning.
According to Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hasan, when the incident occurred at about 5 am, the victim who was working at a 24-hour convenience store was approached by two unknown local men who wanted to buy drinks.
"One of the suspects took three umbrella sticks and left the premises without making any payment.
"The 18-year-old complainant then reprimanded the man and there was a verbal argument between the complainant and the suspect before the suspect returned to the premises and punched the victim in the face several times," he said in a statement.
Mohd Zaid added that the initial investigation found that the two suspects left the premises after the incident.
"The victim received treatment at a hospital before making a police report," he added.
Mohd Zaid said efforts to trace the two suspects were underway and the case was being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which is robbery causing injury.
Accordingly, the police urge any party who has information about the incident to come forward to help with the investigation.
